reprojection
- 2 minutes read - 233 wordsI spent the last few months wondering if any of the posts that I was doing were leading to any inbound work, and the answer was no.
None of the technical stuff seems to get much traction , I hope the high barrier to entry is a turnoff not that the content is shit or maybe the linkedin algorithm has changed a bit as well making getting traction on outbound links harder.
So because opensource doesn’t pay the bills at least not for me it was time to reconsider what the best path to go down was.
What does that mean for the current set of libraries I have out there? nothing will change, the python libraries will remain available, and help is always welcome.
Going forwards I’ll be trying a new path and developing tools for geoscientists which hopefully will be more successful. So after locking myself away with Copilot I managed to learn enough JS+React+Tailwind to build something that I hope fills a gap in the market.
As for the life of me I couldn’t find a website that would allow reprojection of a .csv full of data for any arbitrary proj4 string. So if you need a way to quickly reproject a whole heap of points in a .csv plot those points on a map and download the results then you can find a webapp here at https://tools.fractalgeoanalytics.com/reproject
Cheers, Ben.
